Research Assistant
To assist the Principal Investigator and Research Coordinator in a wide variety of activities directly related to implementation and completion of clinical research projects. These activities include coordination of the Factor VIIa database project, screening and recruitment of patients for the ICU project, processing of blood samples, and completion of clinical data collection forms for trauma research protocols, data entry and organizing data for analysis.
· Screening and enrollment: Reviews hospital admissions each day to identify patients eligible for enrollment in clinical research studies. When appropriate, obtains informed consent from the patient.
· Data collection: Uses active medical record, computerized ICU data, and laboratory reports to complete data collection forms for clinical research studies.
· Data entry: Enters collected data into a wide variety of spreadsheet and relational database forms including Excel, SPSS, Access, Paradox.
· Data Quality: Reviews data for accuracy and completeness.
· Data Presentation: Writes reports and organizes summary data for analysis by the Biostatistician and Principal Investigator. Creates slide presentations in Powerpoint of analyzed data.
· Manuscript preparation: Assists Principal Investigator as needed in preparing manuscripts for publication. Includes conducting thorough literature searches and construction of tables and figures.
· Coordination of Factor VIIa Database: Registering of all participating centers and maintaining contact to ensure high quality for the database; liaison with web developers; write queries and reports and organize data for presentations.
