INJURY SURVEILLANCE
Injuries have causes they don't simply happen because of fate or bad luck. To reduce death and disability from injury, we need high quality data that will enable us to understand risk factors and to delineate variations in injury rates and outcomes. Through collaboration with the San Francisco Department of Public Health, the SFIC is active in the development of local and national injury surveillance databases. Ultimately this work serves to influence the efforts of health care providers, public health agencies, elected officials, and community organizations in implementing prevention programs and generating changes in public policy.
